Wood is our base material –
ecological advantages of wood
Renewable raw material
We purchase approx. 80% of our lumber from Germany. It comes from sustainable forestry - that means less wood is taken from nature than is grown again. In doing so, we have been supporting today’s popular subjects such as Green Production or Green Logistics for quite some time now.
Greenhouse effect
Wood is CO2 neutral. Approximately 1.16 bn tons of carbon is stored in the total volume of German wood. This corresponds to approx. 4.27 bn tons of CO2. Wood stores this CO2 during the entire growth and utilisation phase.
Therefore, sustainable forestry and the sensible use of wood in our economic cycles counteract the increase of the CO2 concentration in our atmosphere and the greenhouse effect associated with it.
Energy balance
Less energy is required to obtain and process wood than for other materials.
The energy balance for this natural product is therefore very favourable.
Emissions
Air emission measurements during the entire life cycle of wooden and plastic packaging show that the emission of pollutants from plastic packaging during the production, treatment and processing is, in part, significantly higher than from wooden packaging.
Furthermore, we also provide for the reduction of emissions attributable to operating activities with our own photovoltaic facility at our location in Dietzenbach.
Photovoltaik
With our own Photovoltaik arrangement with an achievement of 160 kWh in the location brook Dietzen, we provide, in addition, for the reduction operationally of conditioned issues.
Water pollution control
The use of wooden packaging has a significantly greater environmentally compliant effect on water consumption compared to other packaging (e. g. made of plastic). At the same time, water pollution is also reduced.
Recycling
Wooden packaging ensures ideal recycling, given that merely a very small amount of residual materials are not recyclable.
Wood preservatives
Our wooden packaging is free of chemical wood preservatives and is solely treated with heat against pest infestation pursuant to international IPPC / ISPM15 regulations.
